Tudo começou em 1860, na pequena aldeia de Sonvilier, Suíça. Aqui Louis-Ulysse Chopard, um jovem artesão talentoso, estabeleceu sua oficina. Em virtude da sua precisão e confiabilidade, seus relógios rapidamente ganham uma sólida reputação entre os entusiastas e encontraram compradores em lugares tão distantes como a Europa Oriental, Rússia e Escandinávia.

Em 1921, o filho do fundador, Paul Louis Chopard, abriu uma filial em La Chaux-de-Fonds e, em seguida, mudou a sede da empresa para lá. Em 1963, ele procurou um comprador capaz de reviver e perpetuar rica herança da marca, uma vez que nenhum de seus filhos desejava assumir a empresa. Foi quando ele conheceu Karl Scheufele, descendente de uma dinastia de relojoeiros e joalheiros de Pforzheim, Alemanha.

Depois de uma breve reunião, Karl Scheufele decidiu comprar a empresa. Sob o impulso da família Scheufele, Chopard experimenta um desenvolvimento espectacular. For the sixth edition of Only Watch, the charity auction for research on Duchenne muscular dystrophy, we unveil the Superfast Chrono Porsche 919 Only Watch 2015, a unique piece with a sleek and powerful style signed by Mark Webber, a racing champion with multiple victories to his name and brand ambassador for Chopard. Launched to celebrate the partnership between Chopard and Porsche Motorsport in the World Endurance Championship (WEC), which witnessed the grand return of the German manufacturer after a 16-year absence and its double victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2015 finishing first and second of the mythical race, the Superfast Chrono Porsche 919 Edition made a serious impression. Its new version for Only Watch symbolises the encounter between two pioneering companies in the avant-garde of their respective fields along with the support of a great champion for a good cause. A stunning unique chronograph for Only Watch The new Superfast Chrono Porsche 919 Edition Only Watch 2015 is entirely in tune with this context. This titanium and DLC chronograph with its 45 mm-diameter case is equipped with a flyback function. It is powered by a mechanical Chopard movement: the 03.05-M calibre chronometer-certified by the COSC. Inspired by the Porsche 919 Hybrid, the stripes on the dial recall the rear diffuser of the racing car. Likewise, the “919” appearing in the red rectangle in the 9 o’clock counter echoes the Porsche models competing in the World Endurance Championship. Water-resistant to 100 metres, this watch is fitted with a rubber strap reminiscent of the slick tyre-tread serving to negotiate bends at extremely high speeds. As aesthetically fascinating as it is technically accomplished, this precious timepiece has a 60-hour power reserve and is signed by Mark Webber. After 12 seasons on the Formula 1 circuit, 36 podium finishes, 11 pole positions and nine Grand Prix victories, Mark Webber joined the Porsche Motorsport team in 2014 to accompany the German manufacturer in its big return to competition in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). Strongly committed to automobile performance as well as to his various foundations, this great champion has chosen to share the driving seat with Chopard for this new edition of Only Watch. Mark Webber explains his commitment: “I didn’t hesitate when Chopard suggested I participate alongside the company for with Only Watch 2015. We have created a unique watch with materials identical to those of the automobile: titanium and carbon. I really hope that it will bring a concrete support for this association and that its future owner will be as happy as I am to help this cause. I invite all passionate fans of watchmaking and racing to fuel the bidding.” In keeping with the spirit of Only Watch, which offers collectors a chance to acquire exceptional watches, this is the only model in the Superfast collection to made of titanium with a DLC treatment accentuating its understated and sporting nature, reflecting that of the incredible engine driving the vehicle that inspired it. Testifying to the excellence of Chopard’s in-house manufacturing approach, this timepiece is also extremely reliable.

In 2015, Petra Nemcova embodied the Chopard Haute Joaillerie seasons, diving into turquoise waters to celebrate summer or enjoying herself in a winter wonderland. We sat with her for an inspiring conversation on the outstanding collections she posed with and her special relationship with Chopard. You share with Caroline Scheufele the will to help and support charity and she supports Happy Hearts Foundation. Could you please tell us a few words about your relationship with her? Caroline has become a very special person in my heart. Since meeting her I feel that my life has become enriched by her generosity of spirit and soul. As you know, Caroline has supported the Happy Hearts Foundation and we collaborated to create a bracelet together of which 200 euros is donated to help the rebuilding of resilient schools. The joy of this is that all around the world the friends of Chopard can carry a little sapphire heart to resemble their continuous support of Happy Hearts Foundation and children. You have created the Happy Hearts Foundation and made a partnership with Chopard Happy Diamonds collection; what do you think a piece of jewellery can bring the woman who wears it? Empowerment and connectivity through the Jewellery. Each piece has a story behind it of how it was made, why it was made and why it was given. I love how the Jewellery has a meaning and each piece has a thousand words and stories behind it. Do you remember the first time you have worn Chopard Haute Joaillerie? It was at the Cannes Film Festival – it was a dream come true. I felt like I was in a fairytale. Amongst all the breathtaking Chopard Haute Joaillerie pieces you have been photographed with, do you have a favourite one that you find truly exceptional? The beryl necklace with matching earrings. It was just breathtaking how the light played inside the stone. This is not to forget the magnificence of The Green Carpet Collection. You have been chosen to embody Chopard Haute Joaillerie because of your radiant energy and audacity. Do you feel like your personality is connected to Chopard’s spirit? Absolutely! For me Chopard represents the perfect connection and embodies my spirit and joie de vivre. When I paid a visit to the manufacture, I was able to witness how much conciseness and thoughtful energy goes into each piece. This perfectly aligns with my work ethic and how I approach life. Which season did you particularly like to embody for this campaign? The Cannes Film Festival season because we shot spring, summer, fall, winter and CANNES FILM FESTIVAL SEASON!
